MSDWT requires a Bus Driver to have a clean driving record, be drug-free, over twenty-one years of age, pass a national background check, and be eligible to work in the United States. A first-year regular Bus Driver receives $25.65 per hour and $27.21 with 5 years of experience with another district. Permanent Bus Drivers are eligible for benefits! $1,000 Sign on Bonus: Any new full-time bus driver who possesses the necessary state licenses and qualifications to operate a school bus in Indiana at the time of their hire will be eligible for a $1000 bonus during their first year of employment in the Washington Township Transportation Department. Qualified Drivers must possess all of the following: An active Indiana CDL license Air Brake Endorsement Passenger Endorsement School Bus Endorsement Be eligible for an Indiana Department of Education Yellow Card No CDL, No Problem! CDL/Bus Driver Training Program: $180.00 paid midway through the training process and another $180.00 paid at the end of the training program. Payment for training is paid by voucher.
