Job Description

Director of Technology (Remote – CST Hours) Full-Time | Remote (Central Time Zone) Experience in Education Required CDW is seeking an innovative, mission-driven Director of Technology to lead the strategic development and integration of technology across our school community. This fully remote position (working CST hours) requires an experienced technology leader with a deep understanding of educational environments , a passion for learning, and a commitment to the Jesuit, Catholic mission of the school. Reporting directly to school administration, the Director of Technology is responsible for advancing our digital infrastructure, managing systems and support, promoting instructional innovation, and ensuring cybersecurity, data privacy, and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership Develop and execute a comprehensive technology strategy aligned with the school’s educational mission and long-term goals. Collaborate with school leadership and stakeholders to prioritize initiatives that enhance teaching, learning, and operational efficiency. Infrastructure & Operations Oversee the design, implementation, and management of the school’s IT infrastructure-including network, hardware, software, and security systems. Ensure high availability, disaster recovery planning, and business continuity across all platforms. Manage vendor relationships and technology contracts to ensure cost-effective and reliable solutions. Educational Technology & AI Integration Collaborate with academic leadership to integrate instructional technology and AI tools that support teaching and learning. Lead ongoing professional development for faculty and staff in educational technology, digital tools, and emerging technologies. Data & Communications Implement systems for secure data collection, analysis, and reporting to support school-wide decision-making. Oversee school communication tools and platforms (e.g., email, websites, digital signage), enhancing internal and external engagement. Compliance, Ethics, & Policy Development Develop and enforce technology policies that align with best practices in cybersecurity, accessibility, and federal/state regulations (FERPA, COPPA, etc.). Promote a culture of digital citizenship, responsible use, and ethical engagement with technology. Team Leadership & Development Recruit, supervise, and mentor a high-performing technology team. Establish team goals, review performance, and foster a culture of innovation and accountability. Budget & Resource Management Develop and manage the annual technology budget, aligning spending with strategic priorities. Evaluate technology investments based on total cost of ownership (TCO) and value of investment (VOI), and pursue funding opportunities where applicable. Community Engagement Serve as a thought leader and advocate for technology, providing guidance to faculty, staff, students, and families on responsible technology use. Stay informed of trends and best practices in educational technology and artificial intelligence, sharing insights with stakeholders. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Educational Technology, or a related field (Master’s preferred). 5-7 years of progressive leadership experience in technology management, preferably within an educational setting. Demonstrated success managing IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, systems integration, and end-user support. Certified Education Technology Leader (CETL) certification (or willingness to attain within one year of hire). Experience supporting technology-enhanced learning and operational systems within schools. Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Evidence of commitment to advancing the Jesuit, Catholic mission of the school. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with AI integration and data-informed decision-making in education. Familiarity with Catholic school operations or Jesuit education models.
