American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU - Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Lafayette, Indiana.

American Traveler is seeking a PCU RN with current IN or Compact license, ACLS and BLS certifications, and at least 18 months of stepdown or tele experience.

\n \n Responsibilities\n
  • Position is in a Cardiac and Medical Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with an ICU stepdown setting
  • Patient population includes cardiac, medical stepdown, and patients requiring heart caths, drips, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen
  • Care of patients requiring telemetry, cardiac and vasoactive drips (Levo, Dopa, Nitro, Cardizem, Amio), and BiPAP
  • Handles crisis criteria in PCU and participates in Code/Crisis management
  • Requires floating within the hospital and to affiliate hospitals as needed
  • Night shifts, 3x12-hour schedule (18:00-06:30)
  • Uses Cerner EMR, Cerner experience preferred but not required
  • No on-call required
  • Weekend shifts required
  • Daily duties involve care of complex stepdown cardiac and medical patients, titrating drips, and managing non-invasive ventilation
  • Red scrub top and black pants required
  • Free parking available
  • All travelers required to float as needed
  • Must be able to work 2 of 3 major holidays during the contract
  • First-time travelers welcome
  • Former IU permanent or PRN employees must have a 12-month break before applying as a traveler
  • RTO of up to 5 days may be approved automatically; additional requests require facility approval
\n \n Requirements\n
  • Active IN or Compact RN license in hand prior to start
  • A minimum of 18 months of PCU, stepdown, or telemetry RN experience required
  • Current AHA or RQI ACLS and BLS certifications required
  • NIH Stroke Scale certification preferred
  • Ability to start IVs and manage cardiac & vasoactive drips, as well as BiPAP and high-flow oxygen required
  • Experience with Level I-IV acuity, ventilators, and conscious sedation preferred
  • Charting experience with Cerner is a plus
  • Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE-accredited nursing program required
